Preparing for Your CBCT

All Cone Beam CT scans must be scheduled in advance. Please call us to book your appointment.
What To Bring :
  • A referral from your GP or specialist​
  • Medicare card​

For most CBCT scans, no special preparation is needed. You can eat and take your usual medications, unless your doctor or the staff at RRD Imaging provide different instructions.

Please inform us if you are pregnant.

What To Expect

Before the CBCT Scan

  • Usually, no special preparation is needed; eat and take medications as normal unless instructed otherwise.
  • Remove any jewelry, glasses, or metal objects from your head and neck area.
  • Inform the staff if you are pregnant.

During the CBCT Scan

  • You will either sit or stand, depending on the machine.
  • The CBCT scanner rotates around your head to capture detailed 3D images.
  • The scan is quick, usually taking less than a minute, and is painless.

After the CBCT Scan

  • You can resume normal activities immediately.
  • The images are reviewed by a radiologist or your dentist/specialist for diagnosis or treatment planning.
  • Your doctor will discuss the results and next steps with you if needed.
